Borax 5 mol serves as a source of boric oxide in compositions including insulation fiber glass and textile fiber glass. Borax also increases the strength, scratch resistance and chemical resistance of ceramic wares such as wall and floor tiles, tableware, porcelain and enameled appliances. It can even be used as a water softener, pH buffer and assists in soil removal.
