Calcium Sulfate (Gypsum, Terra Alba)
Gypsum, the chemical Calcium Sulfate, also known as Terra Alba, is a fine, free flowing, odorless, tasteless white powder produced by fine grinding and air separating a select grade of high-purity white gypsum.
Gypsum, Calcium Sulfate, has many uses. One primary application is in beer brewing. It is used to condition the water. Higher calcium, adds hardness to the water, adding mineral content which in turn increases hop flavors, as well as helping wort to clear quicker, as well as helping to prevent "chill haze." It also increases mouth feel. Test water prior to use.
Gypsum is also used as a soil conditioned and even in baking, as an anticaking agent.
