Triethanolamine, also known by the abbreviation TEA, is used in many common industrial and commerical products. TEA is a widely used amine chemical with many functions. It also combines the properties of amines and alcohols, and in many uses exhibits the unique capability of undergoing reactions common to both groups.
Some applications include use as chemical intermediates in concrete additives and adhesive, rubber, agricultural and chemicals; use as a component of cement grinding aids; use in oil well chemicals and in metalworking to prevent corrosion; and use as catalysts that promote stability during the reaction process in the manufacture of flexible and rigid urethane foams.
