Tartaric Acid FG
Also known as dihydroxysuccinic acid, tartaric acid is a natural product derived from winemaking byproducts (wine lees, raw tartar, and bitartrates). It is also found in many plants including tamarinds, bananas, and grapes. When added to food or beverage products, a sour taste is produced. It can be combined with Sodium Bicarbonate to make baking powder.
In the textile industry, Tartaric Acid can be used as a "mordant" for dying textiles or fabrics to help fix or bind the dye to the fibers more effectively.
