Sulfamic Acid
Sulfamic acid, chemical formula H₃NSO₃, is a strong, crystalline, colorless, and water-soluble acid that is widely used in industrial and household applications. It is considered to be less corrosive and safer to handle than hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, but is still an irritant.
Sulfamic Acid is used as an effective acidic cleaning agent for stainless steel pipes and tanks and equipment. It removes hard water scale, beerstone (milkstone), protein deposits, and light rust without damaging metal as aggressively as other acids. It's a common choice for cleaning brewery tanks vats, pipelines, and other industrial equipment because it's less volatile and generally safer than muriatic/ hydrochloric acid while still being a strong descaler.
Typical Applications:
- Metal cleaner
- Tank cleaning in Breweries and wineries for example
- Bleaching
- Chlorine stabilization
- Dye manufacturing
- Brewery Cleaner
