N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP)

N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a mild amine odor. It is miscible with various organic solvents as well as water and castor oil.

N-Methylpyrrolidone is a versatile, effective aprotic solvent. It is used in numerous industrial applications as a co-solvent with water, alcohols and other organic substances. used as a cleaner and degreaser and in many other applications. It is often used in specialty resins, stripping epoxy, as a pigment dispersant, plastics, textiles, agrochemicals. In the electronics/ microelectronics industry specifically it is often used as a process solvent that replaces many ozone depting products, for cleaning silicon wafers, removing marker dyes and soldering flux residues from circuit boards. NMP has become a popular choice for use as a co-solvent in floor polishes since it provides improved gloss. It is also popular in paint strippers, agricultural chemicals and process solvent applications.
