Sorbitol NF/FCC
Sorbitol elicits a strong cooling sensation when tasted and can be used on a 1:1 basis as a replacement for sucrose as a bulking agent in food applications. Sorbitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol found in plants and animals. It is the most affordable and widely used sugar replacer for solid applications where you need to replace the functionality of sucrose. Most oral bacteria cannot metabolize sorbitol, so it does not promote tooth decay. Sorbitol is a great crystallization inhibitor, freeze point depressant, humectant, plasticizer, and excipient and can withstand high temperatures without browning.
