D Limonene Technical Grade 55 Gallon Drum
D Limonene is a biodegradable solvent derived from citrus fruits -primarily from citrus peels. D-Limonene citrus oil is considered a natural product. Ours is a technical grade. If you need a food grade email or give us a call.
D-limonene has a typical citrus odor that is usually considered a fresh scent in many cleaners and deoderizing products. Another good benefit of Dlimonene is that it has excellent cleaning and degreasing properties meaning that it is usually a very benefical ingredient in natural focused products.
Many formulators suggest d-limonene is a good additive to use as a primary additive in hard surface cleaners and degreasers since it is beneficial not only for effective cleaning and degreasing but also has the added benefit of the pleasant odor/ smell.
To make a water based cleaner using Dlimonene formulators will typically need to use alcohol ethoxylate surfactants (ideally Tomadol 25-7 or similar surfactant) or a blend using 25-7 along with Tomadol 25-3 or similar product.
Another great choice for formulating is to use natural derived Decyl Glucoside surfactant, which we offer. Using D-limonene along with Decyl Glucoside is a great combination for natural focused cleaners. Typically the ratio for blending with Decyl Glucoside and making a clear microemulsion is to use a ratio of 4:1 to 5:1 of decyl glucoside to D-limonene. (for each 1 gram of D-limonene use 4 to 5 grams of decyl glucoside. (always do testing with small batches to confirm this will work for your formula. ) Other ratios are used for making milky emulsions vs the clear.
Follow good manufacturing practices and test on surfaces.
