- Each kit consists of 2 rolls of test papers (containing 15-foot rolls each of test paper) and 2 specially calibrated color charts. One rolls measures calcium carbonate from 0 to 20 grains. The corresponding chart for the 0 to 20 level is in shades of red. The second roll measures hardness of 10 to 50 grains / gallon of calcium carbonate, and it's corresponding chart is in shades of blue and purple.
DIRECTIONS: Open the kit and you will see the 2 rolls of test papers and 2 calibrated color charts. One roll detects between 0-20 grains per gallon of calcium carbonate, and the second roll measures from 10-50 grains per gallon. There is a color chart that has color matches at 0, 5, 10, and 20 grains per gallon. Tear off a strip of each test paper, and immerse in your test water for five seconds, then compare the resulting color with the color charts on the containers. A reading of 5 grains per gallon indicates moderately hard water. The higher the number the harder the water.
Do not store in an area with high humidity or in an area where they may be exposed to water before use.
